Aarhus, Denmark (April 24, 2020) – Cercare Medical and Siemens Healthineers proudly announce the addition of CERCARE Perfusion to the syngo.via OpenApps portfolio, now available in Europe. This addition allows Siemens Healthineers to offer its customers a one-of-a-kind perfusion imaging solution powered by artificial intelligence (AI).
CERCARE Perfusion is a unique perfusion imaging solution for CT and MRI. Its technology incorporates information on capillary transit time heterogeneity, resulting in maps of unparalleled quality. The solution represents a leap forward for perfusion image analysis.
In comparison to other solutions on the market, CERCARE Perfusion stands out as it is fully automated which is achieved with AI technology. Arterial input function (AIF) is typically selected manually, slowing down the image assessment and potentially leading to different outputs. With CERCARE Perfusion, AIF selection is facilitated by AI, fully automating post-processing, and saving radiologists’ time and contributing to more standardized image analysis.
“CERCARE Perfusion simplifies clinical workflow by optimizing the imaging processing. This allows clinicians to focus on the patient and the pathology,” says Cercare Medical Founder, and Professor at Aarhus University, Kim Mouridsen.
Cercare Medical perfusion imaging solution is the only solution offering both standard and unique oxygen extraction and metabolism biomarkers, previously not possible to obtain from CT and MRI. They provide healthcare professionals with important information to assess a range of neurological diseases such as brain tumors, dementia, and acute ischemic stroke. Thanks to the accurate representation of the microvascular flow, the perfusion maps are more informative and easier to interpret than other solutions. The technology is based on more than 20 years of research in perfusion imaging at Aarhus University, Denmark.
