The Cercare Medical Perfusion Summit 2026
What’s new? This time the main event will take place on the 1st day – this means more time to network and exchange ideas! The program will highlight different topics in Stroke, Neuro-Oncology, and other Neurodegenerative diseases.

Presentations will show real-life case studies, applications and the importance of biomarkers in determining patient outcomes.
Perfusion Summit 2026 Moderator
We’re honored to welcome Prof. Leif Østergaard, a pioneer in perfusion imaging and cerebral small vessel disease (SVD). He will open the summit and share insights during a special keynote address.

Professor Leif Østergaard
Department of Clinical Medicine, Aarhus University – Denmark

Prof. Leif Østergaard is a renowned expert in neuroimaging and cerebral perfusion, with extensive experience in both research and clinical practice. His work at Aarhus University and Harvard Medical School has significantly advanced understanding of cerebral blood flow and small vessel disease (SVD). Prof.  Østergaard’s expertise in stroke, dementia, and neurodegenerative diseases makes him an ideal moderator for the Perfusion Summit.

Dr. Alexandre Bani-Sadr is a neuroradiologist whose clinical and research work focuses on advanced MRI techniques and their application in acute ischemic stroke. He has authored several peer-reviewed publications, including recent work in Stroke (AHA) on Oxygen Extraction Fraction (OEF) mapping to predict brain tissue recovery after thrombectomy. His ongoing research seeks to advance imaging biomarkers that improve diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis in cerebrovascular diseases.

CBCT PERFUSION WORKSHOP FACILITATOR:
Prof. Dr. Johannes Kaesmacher
Bern University Hospital, Switzerland

Prof. Kaesmacher is a clinician-scientist specializing in interventional neuroradiology and stroke treatment. He completed his medical training at the Technical University of Munich and is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Bern. He leads a research group at the Stroke Research Center Bern, focusing on acute stroke interventions and hyperacute imaging. His research interests include the role of thrombolysis in mechanical thrombectomy, the impact of residual perfusion deficits on patient outcomes, and the development of personalized stroke treatment strategies.
